is a town in central Poland with 31,900 inhabitants ( 2004). Situated in the Masovian Voivodship (since 1999), previously in Skierniewice Voivodship ( 1975– 1998).

Founded by the French investor Philippe de Girard (from Lourmarin ), it developed during the 19th century into a textile mill city. The town museum is nowadays located in the former palace of the magnate Dittrich family.
