2 The municipality

Zundert is one of the most agricultural municipalities of the Netherlands. 10% of all "boomkwekers" ( nursery-men) work in Zundert.

Zundert was expanded in 1997 with the former municipality of Rijsbergen.

Zundert is the birthplace of the famous painter Vincent van Gogh.

Zundert also boasts the oldest and most technically advanced flower parade in Europe, held every first Sunday in September.

4 Rijsbergen

Until 1997 Rijsbergen (population 6,100) was an independent municipality, after which it was added to Zundert. In the territory of the former municipality was one of the most important border crossings of the country: Hazeldonk. Hazeldonk was ceded in 1997 to Breda.

In the town is an AC (Aanmeldcentrum, i.e. AsylumUnder international law, a refugee is a person who is outside his/her country of nationality or habitual residence; has a well-founded fear of persecution because of his/her race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group or political Request Center).
