The Zaza are an ethnic minority in eastern Anatolia ( Turkey). Their language, Dimli or Zazaki, is closely related to the Kurdish language. For this reason, the Zaza are often referred to as a subgroup of the Kurds. Until recently, Turkish authorities banned the public use of Dimli/Zazaki, and they have tended to use the words Zaza and Zazaki as pejoratives, leading to an increased preference for the term Dimli among the ethnic group themselves.
Zaza is also a name that appears [1] in the Bible, meaning "belonging to all" or "plenty". [2]
