Zaventem is a municipality in the province of Flemish Brabant, in Flanders, one of the three regions of Belgium. The municipality comprises the towns of Nossegem , Sint-Stevens-Woluwe, Sterrebeek and Zaventem proper. On January 1st, 2004 Zaventem had a total population of 28,070 (13,631 males and 14,439 females). The total area is 27.62 kmē which gives a population density of 1,016.15 inhabitants per kmē.The Brussels International Airport is located in this municipality.
The official language is Dutch (as everywhere in Flanders). Small local minorities consist of nationals from many European Union-countries, USA and Canada, and from French-speakers that came from Wallonia or Brussels.
