Yvelines was created from the western part of the no longer existing département of Seine-et-OiseSeine-et-Oise is a former French departement''. It was created on March 4, 1790, and abolished on January 1, 1968. Its territory was split between the following departements Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne, Val-d'Oise and Yvelines on January 1January 1 is the first day of the calendar year in both the Julian and Gregorian calendars. Here a calendar year refers to the order in which the months are displayed, January to December. It gained the communes of Châteaufort and Toussus-le-Noble from the adjacent département of Essonne in 1969.
