Yuna is a playable main character in both Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 of the Final Fantasy video games series, created by Square-Enix.

Yuna in Final Fantasy X-2

Born in Bevelle and brought up on the island of Besaid , at the start of Final Fantasy X Yuna is 17, a quiet, serious girl wearing formal robes that are almost the opposite of Tidus' outgoing clothing. Yuna is a summoner of Yevon and has the ability to summon powerful creatures known as " Aeons". She is entrusted with the task of going on a pilgrimage to save the people of Spira from a powerful destructive creature called Sin and usher in a period of peace called the Calm, as her father Braska did ten years before. Though meek in manner and soft-spoken, she has an inner strength which shines through. Yuna's determination is inspiring as her love for the people of Spira drives her on in her quest.

Yuna is a changed person in Final Fantasy X-2. She is more open and direct, and wears much more revealing clothing. Her relationships from FFX have given her a new look at life and she sets out to discover more about herself and to try and find someone she thought was lost. She was voiced by Hedy Burress in the English versions of the games, and by Mayuko Aoki in the Japanese versions. She is half Yevonite-Human and half Al Bhed. Her father, Summoner Braska was a Yevonite Human, but her mother (also Cid 's sister and Rikku's aunt) was an Al Bhed.

Yuna, as a summoner, takes upon herself a quest throughout Spira to end the threat the malevolent force " Sin " poses to her world, with the help of her Aeons, including Valefor, Shiva and Bahamut. Through the course of FFX, Yuna is forced to grow in character—she becomes battle-hardened fighting Sin's Sinspawn creatures, her Yevonite beliefs are challenged and eventually torn to shreds, and her growing relationship with Tidus makes her reevaluate her quest. As she learns more about Sin, against whom she must bring the Final Summoning, she gets caught up in the plots of Maester Seymour , and is kidnapped. Her realisations of Seymour and the other Maesters' manipulations of the truth force her to separate herself from her faith, and when Tidus eventually learns the full implication of the Final Summoning, and all Yuna's quest—that Yuna will sacrifice herself, as her father did, in order to bring about a temporary Sin-free era (a Calm)—his perspective persuades her they can find another, more permanent, way to rid Spira of the threat of Sin.

Tidus and Yuna's mutual love (which comes to a head in the Sphere Theatre scene 'The Spring') intensifies as the quest draws to a confrontation with Sin, and then the evil at the heart of Spira's sorrows, Yu Yevon. However, after Yevon is defeated, Yuna's bastion, in Tidus, is taken from her by the hands of the faythIn the universe of Final Fantasy X the Fayth are souls of people of Spira who have willingly sacrificed themselves for Yevon, and they are trapped in statues. But, when a summoner calls, a fayth will emerge as an aeon. In the game the fayth haunt Tidus's she had been allies with.

Two years later, in FFX-2, Yuna has become a celebrity for her role as saviour of Spira and deliverer from Sin. However, restless on Besaid, she sets out as a 'Sphere Hunter'—a new craze sweeping Spira—as a member of "YRP", along with her long-time companion Rikku and a new, mysterious friend, Paine . Together with Rikku's sibling Brother , his friend Buddy, and the Al Bhed whiz-kid Shinra, they form the Sphere Hunting team 'the Gullwings'.

Underneath the surface however, Yuna searches for clues about Tidus—the cause of his disappearance and his current whereabouts. Her investigations once again lead her into the sinister plots of Yevon and the various warring factions of a post-Sin Spira—in particular the Machine Faction, the Youth League and New Yevon. Yuna must realises she accept responsibility to restore a true Calm to Spira once again, and—through the apocalyptic machina Vegnagun, lovers Shuyin and Lenne, and the Farplane—try to be reunited with her lost love.
