"Always a pleasure" to be introduced, "Doc" as he is called by announcer Kenji Fukui, is the color commentator on the Japanese cooking competition show, Iron Chef.

While he is a commentator he was known on one occasion to actually act in place of Chairman Takeshi Kaga when he boycotted the Kitchen Stadium due to poor performance from his Iron Chefs. Twice, I believe, he was even a challenger (losing both times if memory serves me correctly).

Hattori-san is the chairman of Hattori Nutrition College, cited in the Iron Chef credits as "produced in cooperation with".
