Yourethemannowdog.com was created in 2001 by Max Goldberg . It consists of a repeated photo of actor Sean Connery and, in large zooming text, "YOURE ( sic) THE / MAN NOW / DOG.COM". A recording of Connery saying "You're the man now, dog!" from the film Finding Forrester repeats continuously.
The simple but humorous nature of this site inspired others[1] to create similar sites with other movie and television quotes. In 2004 Goldberg started ytmnd.com, allowing anyone to create their own variation by uploading a sound file and graphic.
The forums on the site were silly and sometimes obscene. However, it was all in good fun. The forum members were totally different from YTMND itself.
The members posted threads which may be labeled as ignorant by some, and brilliant to others. One user, "JEWKILLER," posted a thread carefully explaining the hoax behind the Holocaust (appropriately entitled Holocaust: Hoax.) which reached about 800 views.
Dirty images such as gay porn, pictures of corpses at Auschwitz, racial and bigoted imagery, and a picture called "N*gg*rpunch," posted over 300 times per day by user "Gren," which depicts a white man punching a black man were routine features of YTMND forums life.
By October 1st, 2004, the forums, in Max Goldberg's own words, had become the next "STORMFRONT, a stomping ground for SS men in training."
On October 14th, 2004, Max Goldberg, without any warning, inexplicably shut down the forums and banned the chief users -- citing tension between himself and the website's host, but is planning to reopen them.
Many of the YTMND forum members now go on the X-ytmnd forums to post their hilarious and sometimes risque content.
