The original album version contains four lines spoken in French. During the same session, Minogue recorded versions with these lines in other languages including German, Spanish, and Japanese. Due to the campness of the song, it is frequently played in gay clubs.
Remixes of the song include the Almighty Remix, the Casino Remix and the Saint Ken Remix.
After hearing the album, many fans in the UK loved the track and when the record company were deciding on the fourth single from Light Years, fans campaigned for the release of "Your Disco Needs You". However, perhaps to avoid Minogue being further stereotyped, it was decided that "Please Stay" would be released instead.
