Yoshida Shoin ( Japanese language 1830- 1859) is a Japanese scholar and teacher.

Born in Choshu domain, he, after being released from house arrest, opened a private school, Shoka Sonjyuku to teach the youth military arts and politics.

He was executed in 1859
