York West is a riding in the Canadian province of Ontario. The riding is currently represented by Judy Sgro in the Government of Canada and by Mario Sergio in the Government of Ontario. Its population is 110,384. ( 2001)

1 Geography

The district includes the northwest corner of the former city of North York, including the extreme western part of Downsview.

2 History

The electoral district was created in 1914 from York Centre and York South.

The district also existed from 1867 to 1903. It was created by the British North America Act. In 1867 it consisted of Etobicoke Township, Vaughan Township, and the western part of York Township . In 1874 it gains the Village of Richmond Hill. In 1903 it was abolished into York Centre and York South.
