York Regional Municipality, also called York Municipality or York Region, is a municipality in south-central Ontario, between Lake Simcoe and Toronto. Population: 803,780 ( 2002). It is one of the fastest growing areas of Canada, expected to surpass 1.5 million residents by 2020. The entire region is part of the Greater Toronto Area. The regional seat is in Newmarket.
