The X-Nauts compose a vile group led by the malicious Sir Grodus. The X-Nauts' focus is to open the Thousand-Year Door in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. The X-Nauts work in a secret base on the moon. They may be extraterrestrial.

Little is known about the X-Nauts except they work for world domination. Sir Grodus strives to become ruler by opening the Thousand-Year Door to release the demon inside.

The X-Nauts are dim-witted and easily fooled. The wit of Sir Grodus's second-in-command and pawn Lord Crump is probably the dimmest. He likes working with machines and his machine-monster Magnus von Grapple.

The X-Nauts threaten the Mushroom Kingdom. They may make more work for Mario than Bowser ever did.
