Wormhole X-Treme! is a campy, low-budget, farcical parody both of old science fiction series in the tradition of the original Star Trek series and of Stargate SG-1 itself. Over the course of the Stargate SG-1 episode Wormhole X-Treme!, which depicts its production, there are many self-referential and self-deprecating jokes. After the episode is finished there is a brief "Making of Wormhole X-Treme!" feature with interviews of several of the fictional actors from the show.Actors and characters in Wormhole X-Treme! include:

Wormhole X-Treme! is filmed at Bridge Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia, where Stargate SG-1 is filmed in real life.
