Hindelopen ( Frisian: Hylpen) is a town on the IJsselmeer. It is one of the eleven cities of Friesland, since it received city rights in 1372.
Stavoren ( Frisian: Starum) is a small town on the coast of the IJsselmeer, about 5km south of Hindeloopen. Because Stavoren was granted city rights in the 11th century, it is counted as one of the eleven cities in Friesland.
During summer a ferry for pedestrians and cyclists operates between Stavoren and Enkhuizen.
Workum ( Frisian: Warkum) is the largest town of Nijefurd. It received city rights in 1374.
