The character was the first regular Klingon character to appear in Star Trek and has also appeared in more Star Trek episodes than any other character.

As a child, Worf was adopted by a human couple, the Rozhenkos, therefore his legal name is Worf Rozhenko, however he never uses it. His son, Alexander Rozhenko, does however.

Worf is the son of Mogh and the grandson of Colonel Worf. His parents are deceased. His brother Kurn's memory was erased, and Kurn is currently living with his father's friend Lorgh.

• 2371: Promoted to lieutenant commander and put on detached leave from Enterprise. ( )
• 2372 (Stardate 49011.4): Transferred to command division on Deep Space Nine under Captain Benjamin Sisko and is excommunicated by Gowron for refusing to support the Klingon attack on Cardassia. (" The Way of the Warrior")
• Early to mid-2370s: Promoted to commander and made first officer of the USS Defiant.
• 2373 (Between Stardates 50712.5 and 50814.2): Joins the House of Martok, bringing honor back to himself. (" Soldiers of the Empire ")
• 2374 (Stardate 51247.5): Married to Jadzia Dax on April 1 (" You are Cordially Invited ").
• 2375: Jadzia was killed, survived by the Dax symbiote. This ended Worf's marriage.
