Word Records is a giant in Christian Music. It was founded in 1951 by Jarrell McCracken .

Several subsidiary labels were started over the years: Canaan Records in the sixties, Myrrh Records and DaySpring Records in the seventies, Rejoice Records in the eighties.
From 1984 until 1990 Word Records was distributed by A&M Records, afterwards distribution swithced to Epic Records and is now owned by the Warner Music Group.
