Worcestershire County Cricket Club is a county cricket club based at New Road, Worcester, England. The club was formed on 11 March, 1865, and attained first-class status in 1899.

Between the wars, Fred Root was among the county's finest players, and one of the first exponents of leg theory bowling.

Worcestershire's first period of great success came in the 1960s, when the county won two County Championships thanks to the achievements of such players as Tom Graveney , Jack Flavell , Len Coldwell and the young Basil D'Oliveira. The following decade, the New Zealander Glenn Turner was instrumental in Worcestershire's third championship. Hick was born in Salisbury, Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe), and was included in that country's World Cup squad at the age of 17. Although he was not selected for any of those matches, and the arrival of Ian BothamIan Terence Botham OBE, (born November 24, 1955) ( nicknamed "Beefy") was one of England's best-ever cricketers and one of the best all-round cricketers of all time. In a Test career spanning 15 years from 1977, he made 5200 runs at 33. 54, and took 383 w paved the way for two more county titles.
