Women have participated in warfare in a variety of ways in different times and places. This is a list of some notable events related to this.1 Ancient Greece
- The Amazons, a legendary tribe of warrior women.
- Amastris , wife of Dionysius of Heracluria established her own city state by conquering and uniting 4 settlements.
- 5th century BC - Telessilla ( a warrior poet) defended the city of Argos by rallying women with war songs.
2 Roman Republic and Empire
3 Fifteenth and Sixteenth century
- 1428 Joan of Arc (Jehanne la Pucelle) led the French Army to victory against the English, recapturing Orleans. In May 1431 she was burned at the stake in Rouen.
4 Dahomey
- From the 17th century up to 1894Events January 8 A fire at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago causes a good deal of damage. January 9 New England Telephone and Telegraph installs the first battery-operated telephone switchboard ( Lexington, Massachusetts). February 15 04:51 GMT the Dahomey AmazonsThe Dahomey Amazons were a Fon all-female military regiment of the Kingdom of Dahomey (now Benin) which lasted until end of the 19th century. They were so named due to their similarity to the semi-mythical Amazons of Ancient Greece. History King Houegbadj were an all female regiment (under female command) of the west African Kingdom of DahomeyDahomey was an African kingdom situated in what is now Benin. The kingdom was founded in the seventeenth century and survived until the late nineteenth century, when it was conquered by French troops from Senegal and incorporated into France's West Africa.

It was fought between Russia and an alliance of the United Kingdom, France, and the Ottoman Empire, joined somewhat tardily by Piedmont-Sardinia. The majority of the conflict took place around the Crimean peninsul, but also expectations of the role of women of her status.
