Droege was born in Forcheim, Germany . His family had been enthusiastic supporters of the Nazis and Julius Streicher had been a friend of his father. Droege and his mother moved to Canada in 1952. In 1967, he moved back to Germany in order to join the military but was rejected. He moved back to Canada and became a Canadian citizen in the early 1970s. Droege became interested in far-right politics and joined an extremist group, the Western Guard , in 1974 at the prompting of Don Andrews and later joined Andrews' Nationalist Party of Canada. In 1976 he joined the Ku Klux Klan then led by David DukeDavid Duke (born July 13, 1950) is a White nationalist politician in the United States. He is also a former leader of the Ku Klux Klan, Louisiana State Representative, and ran unsuccessfully for various offices including the Louisiana Senate, Governor of and attempted to start a branch in Toronto.
