William Wilson (born 1913) is now a retired solicitor and Labour politician.

William Wilson served in the British army during the Second World War in North Africa, Italy and Greece. After the war he made several unsuccessful attempts to win the Leamington and Warwick constituency, before being successful in 1964 in Coventry South, which he represented (later as Coventry South East) until retiring from parliament in 1983. He also served on Warwickshire County Council, being leader of the Labour Group 1972- 1993.

Wilson was responsible for piloting through Parliament the Divorce Reform Act, 1969 which changed the basis for divorce procedures from the old conceptual of matrimonial offence s to that of the irretrieval breakdown of the marriageMarriage is a relationship that plays a key role in the definition of many families. Precise definitions vary historically and between and within cultures, but it has been an important concept as a socially sanctioned bond between people who (usually) are.
