William Pinkney White ( August 8, 1824March 17, 1908), a member of the United States Democratic Party, was a politician who served the State of Maryland in a large variety of capacities and positions. From 1847- 1849, he was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing Baltimore, Maryland; from 1854- 1856, he was the Comptroller of the state treasury; from 1868- 1869, 1875Events January 12 Kwang-su becomes emperor of China. February 27 Newton Booth, 11th Governor of California resigns, having been elected Senator. Lieutenant Governor of California Romualdo Pacheco becomes acting Governor.
