Wide Awake ( 1998) is a film written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Joshua Beal, ( Joseph Cross ) is a young boy who goes on a search for God after his grandfather dies, in this comedy about growing up.

The film was nominated for " Best Family Feature - Drama" and " Best Performance in a Feature Film - Leading Young Actor" at the 1999 Young Artist Awards.
