The White Panthers was an artists' collective founded in the United States by John and Leni Sinclair. The group, which took its name in emulation of the Black Panthers, dedicated its energies to "cultural revolution". Anarchist Mick Farren, a leader of the London Underground, later founded the White Panthers, UK.
The headquarters of the White Panthers in Portland, Oregon was raided by the FBI on December 5, 1970. Two members of the group were arrested and accused of throwing a molotov cocktail through the window of a local Selective Service office.
1 The White Panther State/meant
In November of 1968, Fifth EstateFifth Estate (FE) is a periodical published in Liberty, Tennessee (formerly in Detroit, Michigan). Its editorial leaning tends from anarchist to bioregionalist. Fifth Estate is the longest running, English language, anarchist publication in North American published the "White Panther State/meant". This manifestoA manifesto is a public declaration of principles and intentions, often political in nature. In the United Kingdom, and in some other parliamentary democracies, political parties prepare electoral manifestoes which set out both their strategic direction a ended with a ten point program:
- Full endorsement and support of the Black Panther Party's 10-point program.
- Total assault on the culture by any means necessary, including rock'n'roll, dope, and fucking in the streets.
- Free exchange of energy and materials, an end to money.
- Free food, clothes, housing, dope, music, bodies, medical care - everything free for everybody!
- Free access to the information media.
- Free time and space for all humans.
- Free all schools and all structures from corporate rule.
- Free all prisoners everywhere.
- Free all soldiers.
- Free the people from their phony leaders, everyone must by a leader.
