Waldorf is an unicorporated community in Charles County, Maryland. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 22,312.

1 Geography

Waldorf is located at 38°38'46" North, 76°53'54" West (38.646173, -76.898217) 1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 33.1 km˛ (12.8 mi˛). 33.1 km˛ (12.8 mi˛) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

2 Demographics

As of the census 2 of 2000, there are 22,312 people, 7,603 households, and 5,991 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 674.1/km˛ (1,746.0/mi˛). There are 7,827 housing units at an average density of 236.5/km˛ (612.5/mi˛). The racial makeup of the CDP is 61.11% White, 31.98% African American, 0.54% Native American, 2.59% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.88% from other races, and 2.88% from two or more races. 2.91% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 7,603 households out of which 45.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.6% are married couplesMarriage is a relationship that plays a key role in the definition of many families.
