Waipahu is a former sugar mill town and now census-designated place (CDP) located in the ‘Ewa District on the Island of O‘ahu in the City & County of Honolulu, Hawai‘i. In Hawaiian, the name is probably derived from wai pahu meaning "exploding or bursting water" as perhaps from a spring. There are many large springs in the Waipahu area. As of the 2000 Census, the CDP had a total population of 33,108.

Waipahu is located along the northern shore of both Middle Loch and West Loch of Pearl Harbor. It is a former sugar mill town.

Waipahu is located at 21°23'33" North, 158°0'39" West (21.392500, -158.010710) 1. Both Interstate H-1 and Farrington Highway (State Rte. 90) run east-west through the length of Waipahu. Waikele is located across the freeway north of Waipahu. To the west via either roadway can be reached Makakilo and Kapolei, with the Leeward coast beyond. To the east, lies Pearl City and the H-2 interchange to Waipi'o.
