WCPE-FM is a classical music radio station broadcasting out of studios near Wake Forest, North Carolina. The station went on the air July 17, 1978 and switched to a 24-hour classical music format in 1982.

Despite its seeming connection to composer Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, WCPE's call letters stand for nothing; the station simply did not have the money to petition the FCC for a specific set of call letters.

WCPE has an extensive network of affiliate radio stations across both central and eastern North Carolina and the United States, and can be heard on cable television systems and the Galaxy V satellite. It also broadcasts in five streaming audio formats on the Internet; WCPE was the first public radio station in the nation to broadcast its programming on the Internet, even to serve.

WCPE prides itself on being 100% listener supported. Some people who rarely listen to WCPE think the station is too snobbish . Although, many people love the station. WCPE is only one of the fewer stations with a 100% full-time classical format.
