Voronezh State University is one of the main universities in Central Russia.

The university was founded in 1918, when staff and students from the University of Tartu fled the German occupation of Estonia.

The University has 18 departments and an enrollment of 21,000 students from Russia, Europe, Africa, America and Asia.
