As part of the Regional Fast Rail project , V/Line is ordering 76 V'Locity 160 DMUs from Bombardier Transportation. It is expected that most locomotive-hauled sets, as well as Goninan LDRPV s aka Sprinters will remain in service after the order is complete.
V/Line was run by National Express from 1999 to 2002, but after the failure of the National Express group in Australia, the Victorian Government was required to take control of V/Line, M>Train and M>Tram as National Express was no longer able to operate them.
