Upson County is a county located in the U.S. State of Georgia. As of 2000, the population is 27,597. The county's county seat is Thomaston, Georgia 6.

The racial makeup of the county is 70.58% White, 27.95% Black or African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.30% from other races, and 0.53% from two or more races. 1.18% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
