Upminster station is located in Upminster and is served by London Underground District Line and also by c2c and "one" train services. The station is in Zone 6 . The station was opened in 1885 by the London Tilbury & Southend Railway and the electrified District Line service reached Upminster in 1932.

The station has seven platforms. Platforms 1a, 1 & 2 are served by c2c services. Platforms 3, 4 & 5 are served by the District line and platform 6 is served by "one" services. It is the eastern terminus of the District Line and the next station along is Upminster Bridge. On the c2c route Upminster is between Barking and West Horndon or Ockendon. On the "one" route Upminster is the eastern terminus of a branch line from Romford and the next station along is Emerson Park.
