The University of New Brunswick (UNB) is located in New Brunswick, Canada. The university has two campuses, the main campus founded in 1785 in Fredericton and the other opened in Saint John in 1964. UNB is the oldest English language university in Canada. It was the first public university in North America. (The University of Georgia was established the same year.)

UNB offers degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

UNBSJ opened with only 96 students in 1964 under New Brunswick's Equal Opportunity Program, guided by premier Louis Robichaud. UNB went along with this only because the Saint John Law School was moved to the Fredericton campus of UNB. Originally UNBSJ was spread around Saint John's uptown, in spare rooms and basements. By 1968, UNBSJ got its own real campus in Tucker Park. Although the Fredericton campus has about 3 times as many students as Saint John, UNBSJ is growing at a faster rate than UNBF with no plans to stop growing.

The Fredericton campus is located within walking distance of Saint Thomas University. The Saint John campus is located on a hill in Tucker Park, Milledgeville, in walking distance of New Brunswick's largest hospital, the Saint John Regional Hospital.
