The Université du Québec is a system of ten provincially-run public universities in Quebec, Canada. Its headquarters are in Quebec City.The university has over 76,000 students, making it the largest university in the province, and offers more than 300 programs. It was created in 1968 by an act of Quebec's National Assembly.
The component institutions are:
- the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), in Montreal;
- the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT), with campuses in Val-d'Or, Rouyn-Noranda, and other towns;
- the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO), in Gatineau;
- the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR), in Trois-Rivières;
- the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC), in SaguenaySaguenay (officially Ville de Saguenay is a city ( 2001 pop. 148,050) in the Saguenay Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec, Canada, on the Saguenay River, about 150 kilometres north of Quebec City. The city was formed on February 18, 2002, by the merger of the;
- the Université du Québec à RimouskiThe Universite du Quebec a Rimouski is a branch of the Universite du Quebec in Rimouski, Quebec. There is one campus of the university in Levis, Quebec Universite du Quebec. (UQAR), in RimouskiRimouski Ville (city) on the western part of Gaspe Peninsula in eastern Quebec at the mouth of the Saint Lawrence River. Population (2001 census) 31,305. Rimouski is a major regional capital and is home of several institutions such as Universite du Quebec;
- the École de technologie supérieureThe cole de technologie superieure Higher School of Technology is an engineering university founded in 1974 and located in Montreal that accepts students that have graduated from college technical programs ( CEGEP). It offers co-op (co-operative) programs (ETS), in Montreal;
- the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS), in Quebec City and greater Montreal;
- the École nationale d'administration publique (ENAP), in Montreal, Quebec City, Gatineau, Trois-Rivières, and Saguenay; and
- the Télé-UniversitéTele-Universit sometimes abbreviated to Teluq is the first French language distance education university in the world and the only one in North America.
