UFJ Holdings is a financial group, the weakest among the four major banking groups in Japan. The name, "UFJ" is an abbreviation of "United Financial of Japan", which is however almost never used.

In July 2004, UFJ announced plans to merge with the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi. If approved, the merger would create the world's biggest bank by assets at $1.7 trillion.
