Turnhout is a municipality located in Flanders, one of the three regions of Belgium, and in the Flemish province of Antwerp. The municipality only comprises the city of Turnhout proper. On January 1st, 2004 Turnhout had a total population of 39,455 (19,326 males and 20,129 females). The total area is 56.06 kmē which gives a population density of 703.75 inhabitants per kmē.
