Tom Macan is currently the Governor of the British Virgin Islands, having served in that capacity since 2002.

As an overseas territory, the Governor is an appointee and representative of the Crown. His role in the government of the British Virgin Islands is largely equivalent to that of the monarch in the United Kingdom itself. He appoints the Chief Minister (curreently Orlando Smith) from the party achieving the most seats in the legislature. He does not concern himself with day-to-day governance, as this is not his role,
