Throckmorton County is a county located in the U.S. State of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 1,850. Its county seat is Throckmorton 6. The county is named for William Throckmorton , an early Collin County settler.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,371 km˛ (915 mi˛). 2,363 km˛ (912 mi˛) of it is land and 8 km˛ (3 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 0.34% water.

The average household size is 2.39 and the average family size is 2.92.

In the county, the population is spread out with 25.20% under the age of 18, 5.70% from 18 to 24, 22.90% from 25 to 44, 25.70% from 45 to 64, and 20.50% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 97.20 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.00 males.
