The Courtship of Eddie's Father is a 1963 comedy film directed by Vincente Minnelli. It tells the story of a widower played by Glenn Ford, with a young son played by Ron Howard who believes his father should marry but disapproves of the women his father is interested in. It also stars Shirley Jones, Stella Stevens, Dina Merrill and Jerry Van Dyke.

Its success led to a television sitcom which ran from 1969 until 1972 and starred Bill Bixby as Eddie's father, Brandon CruzBrandon Cruz was a child actor. At eight years old, he co-starred with Bill Bixby in the television show version of "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" in the early 1970s. In the 1980s, he fronted a hardcore punk band from Oxnard, California called Dr. as Eddie, and Miyoshi UmekiMiyoshi Umeki (born April 3, 1929 in Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan) is an actress. Umeki began her career as a nightclub singer in Japan before moving to the United States. She won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her first film role, Sayonara (1 as their housekeeper, Mrs Livingston.
