The Aviator is a 2004 drama movie, directed by Martin Scorsese. It is distributed by Miramax, and like most of Scorsese's films, was tipped for numerous Academy Awards before its release.

1 Plot

The movie is a biopic of the aviation pioneer, Howard Hughes (Played by Di Caprio). It follows his life from late 1920s through to the 1940s, a period of time where Hughes was directing and producing Hollywood movies as well as test piloting his own groundbreaking new aircraft.

Hughes was the son of a Texan inventor, who left him most of his company "Hughes Tool Co." after his death. From there, Hughes moved to Los Angeles to become a movie producer, helping fledging actors launch their careers, such as Jean Harlow (Played by Stefani), who he cast in the movie Hell's Angels . He also produced other classic movies such as ScarfaceScarface (also known as Scarface, the Shame of the Nation and The Shame of a Nation is a 1932 crime film which tells the story of gang warfare and police intervention when rival gangs fight over control of a city. It stars Paul Muni, Ann Dvorak, Karen Mor. Later on in his career, he branced out into other industries, such as electronics, and most significantly aviation. His company Hughes AircraftHoward Hughes' Hughes Aircraft Company was co-located with Hughes Tool Company on an aircraft landing strip next to Ballona Creek, in Culver City, near the Pacific Ocean in Southern California. Hughes Aircraft, Douglas Aircraft, North American Aviation, N was responsible for legendary aircraft such as the Spruce GooseThe Spruce Goose is a nickname commonly given to the Hughes H-4 Hercules an aircraft designed and built by the Hughes Aircraft company. It is the largest flying boat, and has the largest wingspan of any aircraft ever built. Due to wartime restrictions on.

The movie also details Hughes's romances with Hollywood stars like Ava GardnerAva Gardner ( December 24, 1922 — January 25, 1990) was an American actress. Ava Lavinia Gardner was born in the small farming community of Grabtown, Johnston County, North Carolina, the last of 7 children of poor tobacco farmers. She was married to Micke (Played by Beckinsale), and Katharine HepburnKatharine Houghton Hepburn ( May 12, 1907 June 29, 2003) was a notable American film and stage actress. She was nominated for twelve best actress academy awards , and was awarded a record four. Hepburn was born in Hartford, Connecticut and was educated at (Played by Blanchett).
