Tenshinhan (or Tien Shinhan in the English anime dub, but generally just Tien) is a fictional character from the manga Dragon Ball/ Dragon Ball Z and the anime series Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. He is introduced as an enemy of the series' hero, Son Goku, but soon becomes an ally. His most noticeable features are his three eyes. Tien is exceptionally strong for a human, but he is soon outpaced by the more powerful characters in the series. #REDIRECT Spoiler

1 Biography

Tien started as a student of (The Crane Hermit), the nemesis of Muten-Rôshi (Master Roshi). He is usually accompanied by Chaozu, his training partner and constant companion.

1.1 Dragon Ball

1.1.1 Tenshinhan Saga

Tien is first introduced to the series at the 22nd Tenka'ichi Budôkai (fighting tournament) during the Tenshinhan Saga. He is a student of Tsuru-Sen'nin, who is entering his two top pupils (Tien and Chaozu) to defeat the students of his rival, Muten-Rôshi.

Tien easily wins the peliminary rounds, defeating his opponents so quickly that few can even see how many attacks he lands on them. Between the matches, Tien and Yamcha come close to blows on several occasions. When the finals begin, Tien has Chaozu use his telepathic powers to determine the order of the fights. He picks Yamcha as his first opponent, eager to settle the grudge between them.

1.1.1.1 Yamcha battle

In his battle with Yamcha, Tien finds his first challenge. The match starts off fairly evenly, with Yamcha seeming to pull ahead slightly after knocking Tien down with his Shin Rougafufuken (New Wolf Fang Fist). Tien then starts to take the fight seriously, and readies himself against the attack, brutally countering when Yamcha tries it again. Weakened by Tien's assault, Yamcha tries his wild card, and fires a Kamehameha at Tien. Tien is able to reflect the attack however, forcing Yamcha to dodge it. In his state of disbelief, Tien is able to get behind Yamcha and kick him unconscious. As Yamcha falls to the ground Tien does one final attack, diving down and smashing his knee into Yamcha's leg, breaking it.

During the following battle, KuririnKuririn , or Krillin in the American anime, is a fictional character in the manga Dragon Ball/ Dragon Ball Z, and the Anime Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT. He is the short friend of Son Goku, and is the student of Muten-Roshi (Master Roshi vs. Chaozu, Tien overhears Goku mention that Chaozu's Dodonpa attack is the same as that used by . Tien is surprised to learn that Goku knows of the assassin, and even more so when Goku informs him that he killed Tao. Tien is both saddened and angered by this knowledge, as Tao Pai Pai is the younger brother of Tsuru-Sen'nin.
