A Tejano is a person of Spanish heritage who lives in Texas. In 1821, about 4,000 Tejanos lived in Texas. In the 1820s, many Americans traveled to Texas. By 1830, the 30,000 Americans in Texas outnumbered the Tejanos six to one. The Americans in Texas were unwilling to adapt to Mexican laws, even though they were living in Mexican territory. Tensions between the Tejanos and Americans eventually lead to the Texas Revolution.
