Ted Danson (born December 29, 1947) is an American actor, most notable for his television work.

He was born Edward Bridge Danson III in San Diego, California, the son of an archaeologist. He was raised outside of Flagstaff, Arizona. He became interested in drama while attending Stanford University. He transferred to the Carnegie Institute of Technology (now known as Carnegie Mellon University), where he received his Bachelor's degree.

He is most famous for his role as bartender Sam Malone on the hit sitcom Cheers from 1982- 1993. During this time he also made several movies, the most popular of which was Three Men and a Baby with Tom Selleck and Steve GuttenbergSteve Guttenberg (born August 24, 1958 in New York, New York) is an American actor. He is sometimes credited as Steven Guttenberg. Guttenberg was a popular movie star throughout much of the 1980s, and is best known for starring roles in Police Academy Thr.

After Cheers, Danson starred in the sitcom Ink with his real-life wife Mary SteenburgenMary Steenburgen (born February 8, 1953) is an American actress. Steenburgen was born in Newport, Arkansas and moved to New York City in 1972 to study acting. Steenburgen was married to Malcolm McDowell for ten years, but is currently married to actor Ted. After Ink was cancelled, Danson starred in the CBSCBS Columbia Broadcasting System is a major radio and television network in the United States. CBS was one of the three commercial television networks that dominated broadcasting in the United States before the rise of cable television. In the days of rad sitcom BeckerBecker was a CBS comedy TV show that ran from November 2, 1998 to January 28, 2004, starring Ted Danson (best known as Sam Malone in " Cheers") as the title character, Dr John Becker. Although a good doctor, Becker finds annoyance with the world in genera. Danson also plays himself on Curb Your EnthusiasmCurb Your Enthusiasm is an American television sitcom starring Seinfeld cocreator and writer Larry David. Since its 2000 series debut, the half-hour HBO show has enjoyed wide critical acclaim and a steadily growing audience that has helped it emerge from.

Danson, while still married to his first wife, was involved with Whoopi Goldberg. She broke off the romance soon after he appeared on television in blackface and proposed to her.
