Home > Tarsus class scout

The C-1000 Tarsus was developed by Douglas Astrospace as a scout for the Terran Confederation Exploratory Service. During the late 2660s, the ship was phased out of service and all surviving ships were put up on the general market. It is a large, box-shaped vessel whose four engines grant it a maximum velocity of 600KPS. Although slow and lightly armed, it is relatively durable and (more importantly for merchants) possesses a large cargo hold of 100 units (expandable to 150). More importantly for budding privateers, it is cheap. Tarsus were popular on the Gemini Frontier of the Confederation in 2669, despite the extreme danger.

The Tarsus has the virtue of being highly expandable; it carries two expansion slots for blaster weapons and two for a warhead launcher or tractor beam; some pilots prefer to equip it with two missile launchers for maximum destructive power (a Tarsus with two missile launchers can take out 10 Talons before needing to bomb up), while others prefer one missile or torpedo launcher and one tractor beam.

Namesake

The Tarsus is believed to have been named for the city of Tarsus on Asia Minor, birthplace of Paul the Apostle of the Bible. "Douglas Astrospace" is named both for the historical Douglas Aircraft Company and Origin staffer Chris Douglas.
