Tameside is a metropolitan borough in Greater Manchester in the north west of EnglandEngland is the largest, the most populous, and the most densely populated of the four " Home Nations" which make up the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK). Occupying the south-eastern portion of the island of Great Britain, England. It lies 7 miles east of Manchester and consists of nine towns which were brought together in 1974. It borders onto the county of DerbyshireDerbyshire is a county in the East Midlands of England, which boasts some of England's most attractive hill and mountain scenery. A substantial portion of the Peak District National Park lies within Derbyshire. The northern part of Derbyshire overlaps wit, and the metropolitan boroughs of Oldham, Stockport and Manchester.
