Swietokrzyskie voivodship since 1999

Holy Cross Voivodship or Swietokrzyskie Voivodship ( Polish Województwo swietokrzyskie) is an administrative region or voivodship in central Poland.

It was created on 1 January 1999 out of the former Kielce and half of Tarnobrzeg voivodships as a result of Local Government Reorganization Act of 1998. The voivodship's name recalls the region's Holy Cross Mountains (Góry Swietokrzyskie)

The capital is Kielce (213 000 citizens in 2000), the voivodship has 1 328 000 citizens ( 2001). The area is 11 672 km˛
