Super Bowl XIX was played on a neutral site, at Stanford Stadium, in a city that is not home to an NFL team.

It was the most watched game in history when an estimated 115.9 million people saw the 49ers beat the Dolphins, 38-16. This game also was the first time television commercials ran for a million dollars a minute.
