Stanley Donwood is the pseudonym of English writer and artist Dan Rickwood, who has gained fame for his work on the album and poster art for Radiohead since the release of their My Iron Lung EP ( 1994). He is also responsible for the design of their websites. He is credited alongside Dr. "Tchock", the pseudonym of Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke. "The White Chocolate Farm" is also credited beside Donwood on the Radiohead packaging, which is assumed to be a pseudonym for Radiohead as a whole. Donwood met Thom Yorke at Oxford University and the rest of the band shortly thereafter. He and Tchock won a Grammy Award in 2001 for Best Packaging/Artwork for the Special Edition of Amnesiac. Aside from his work for Radiohead, Donwood also maintains his own website, Slowly Downward, where he publishes his own short stories, poems, and thoughts, all of which have a very unique and often odd style.Despite his popularity as a writer and an artist, Donwood is something of an enigma. He agrees to very few interviews and always conducts them over the phone or via anonymous email addresses. He has only been seen in public with the band once at the Grammy Award ceremony, appearing onstage with Thom to collect the award for Best Packaging/Artwork and thus ceasing the circulating rumours that he and Yorke are the same person.
