In construction or architecture, stadium-style seating is the design of a set of rows of seats so that each progressively backward row is positioned much higher than the one in front. This style of seating originated in stadiums, thus the name.

In recent years, stadium-style seating has become very popular in traditional performing-arts venues and movie theaters, because it improves sightlines for visitors and reduces the chance that a tall person will block the view of a short person behind them. However, in the United States, this style of seating has also led to extensive and costly litigation against movie theaters alleging that it violates the Americans with Disabilities Act.
