Situated on 16 hectares overlooking the Lane Cove and Parramatta Rivers, the College is six kilometres from centre of the city of Sydney.
"Joeys" as the College is commonly known, is a secondary school with more 950 boys and is one of the largest boarding schools in Australasia. The College has a strong representation of boarders from country areas of New South Wales. There are also boarders from other states of Australia and overseas. In some families boys from four or five generations have attended the College.
Joeys is one of eight Sydney GPS Schools and is known for its traditions and contribution to Australian rugby union.
Some prominent Joeys Old Boys include the former Governor-General of Australia, Sir William Deane, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia, Chief Justice Murray Gleeson and former Wallabies fullback Matt Burke.
