Solidus Snake, under the name of Solid Snake, is the leader of a terroist group incorporating members of Dead Cell and a Russian private army, a group that take control of the Big Shell. Solidus Snake, who is genetically identical to Solid Snake and therefore Liquid Snake, is better known to the public as former President George Sears. However, Solidus appears to be older than his two brothers and this is not explained in MGS2.
During the late 1980s, Solidus worked in Africa raising child soldiers. During his time there he meet a young boy named Jack (codename: Raiden). Initially it is believed he is holding a ransom for his successor's, President Johnson, safe return. Solidus' actions are directed by his hatred of the Patriots and Big Shell is the starting point of his plan to overthrow their totalitarian rule.
